With globally revered makeup artist Pat McGrath at the helm, Louis Vuitton launches La Beauté, a collection of lipsticks, balms, and eyeshadows housed in objets d’art inspired by the Maison’s history and craftsmanship.
This August, Louis Vuitton’s heritage of craftsmanship finds new form in the La Beauté collection, a debut line of lipsticks, balms, and eyeshadows encased in intricate packaging that echoes the Maison’s trunk-making artistry and history, each reimagined with Dame Pat McGrath’s signature touch.
As the appointed creative director, the renowned makeup artist draws on three decades of creative mastery, infusing every detail of the collection with the precision of couture. From formulation to function, each piece honors Louis Vuitton’s celebrated past and is intended to be treasured as a keepsake. With La Beauté, the House hopes to transform makeup into both ritual and artifact.
The range introduces LV Rouge, a collection of 55 lipstick shades (27 satin, 28 matte) made with natural waxes from upcycled rose, jasmine, and mimosa flowers, enriched with shea butter and hyaluronic acid; and LV Baume, 10 sheer glow shades with a lightweight, buildable finish. All lip products are infused with bespoke scents developed with Louis Vuitton Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud: a blend of mimosa, jasmine, and rose on the lipsticks and a mixture of mint and raspberry on the lip balms.
Meanwhile, the LV Ombres collection introduces eight colourways of four eyeshadows each: three wearable, everyday shades and one standout hue. “The eyeshadows really set the tone for La Beauté Louis Vuitton,” says McGrath. “They are bold, intentional, and made to be remembered.” The compact palettes offer six finishes from ultra-matte to glitter, making space for a range of creative possibilities.
“With product development I have always been obsessed with the smallest of details: the perfection needed in product texture, the precise application methods, just the right amount of pigment pay-off, and how products should make you feel,” she continues. “I always like to push boundaries with make-up, and this métier is no different.”
As with the Maison’s pieces across fashion, accessories and fragrance, attention to detail is key to every product, and this is reflected even in the collection’s packaging. Each product is designed by renowned German Industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, using aluminium and brass for durability and incorporating a golden ring detail inspired by Louis Vuitton trunk fittings.
“Our approach was about delivering on longevity and quality, while staying true to our sustainable commitments and convictions,” Grcic explains. “These are pieces meant to live with you, to be kept, treasured, and used again and again.”
In celebration of these traditions, Louis Vuitton has also introduced the Vanity Trunk, a make-up station that references the Maison’s early 20th-century beauty commissions and Pat McGrath’s backstage set-up. Inspired by the 1920s vanity designed by Gaston-Louis Vuitton and crafted by French cabinetmaker Pierre-Émile Legrain, the piece bridges the House’s trunk-making heritage with the modern beauty ritual. To mark the launch, limited-edition Lipstick Pouches and Nice Beauty Cases will be available in three signature shades: Monogram Rouge, Rouge Louis and Tender Bliss.
“Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity and innovation,” McGrath says. “The beauty universe is about so much more than just product, and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty.”
