While I was previously less than complimentary about the style, today singer Harry Styles made an appearance at SS Daley’s spring/summer 2025 show—and I’m a convert. Wearing loose navy tailoring, a vest top, and Vans, the singer was the definition of a heartthrob – and I subsequently saw the divisive haircut in a new light.

With long sideburns and that tell-tale flick at the nape of his neck, Styles’s hair looked mussed up and cool as he sat front row. Getting more than one Vogue editor hot under the collar—myself included—his “dirtbag trim” (as fashion writer Daniel Rodgers so aptly christened it) was the perfect partner to his internet boyfriend ensemble.
The style that Paul Mescal, Austin Butler, and Drew Starkey are currently sporting, the mini-mullet, inn all its ’80s glory, is undoubtedly the biggest male hair trend of 2024. And while I remain adamant that it doesn’t suit everyone, there’s no doubt that our Harry pulls it off effortlessly.
