If Florence Pugh is renowned for her out-of-the-box updos (and she is), tonight’s Met Gala steps served as a platform for aesthetic subversion. The actor parted ways with her lengths ahead of the ball, stepping out in a brunette buzzcut that put her penchant for idiosyncrasy center stage.
To counter the volume of her beribboned and generously trained Valentino gown, Pugh ditched her mane for a close-cropped cut, the diminutive bit of length left teaming with Pugh’s brunette hue to create a buzz that skewed soft in its edginess. A smoked-out cat eye, pink pout, and pear drop earrings furthered the feel, with Pugh’s septum ring ensuring the correct amount of punk was still present. And, lest we forget—a regal headpiece crowned the actor’s new lengths (or lack thereof), black feathers sprouting vertically from a gold tiara to modern flapper effect.
