In the history of movie makeovers, one could argue that Andy Sachs’ Runway transformation in The Devil Wears Prada takes the cake. You know, the one where she returns to her desk in those Chanel boots? But Andy’s wardrobe wasn’t the only thing that got an upgrade—she traded her long, seemingly unkempt tresses for a sleek high ponytail complete with oh-so-blunt bangs and wispy, chin-length face-framing pieces.
It’s a look Anne Hathaway and hairstylist Orlando Pita clearly remember well, as the pair recreated Andy’s transformation with some modern updates for stop two of The Devil Wears Prada 2 press tour in Tokyo. Sticking with the high pony, Hathaway’s new bangs appear wispier and choppier, while her face-framing pieces carry more weight to really highlight her face.
Stylist Erin Walsh opted for a strapless Valentino gown in the film’s signature red, white, and black color scheme, and makeup artist Gucci Westman kept the glam light (no heavy dark lower lash line in sight). As the tour continues, we look forward to seeing plenty more easter eggs and refreshed iterations of classic Y2K looks.
