These pretty hair bows are celebrity and couture mainstays, and are sure to get your hair looking amazing for the season’s hottest parties and beyond.

Any Jane Austen heroine worth her smelling salts wouldn’t be caught without a feminine ribbon to accentuate her coiffure. And apparently, today’s modern ladies have been quite enchanted by this feminine accoutrement as well, with everyone from Sydney Sweeney of White Lotus fame, Julianne Moore, Anya Taylor-Joy, and even Hollywood darling and Glass Onion star Kate Hudson decorating their tresses with one.

It made quite an impression on the Chanel Fall 2022 Couture show, its prim and polished aesthetic a great foil to models strutting in with natural, wind-blown waves. Chanel muse Penelope Cruz also charmed at the premiere of her film L’immensità, sporting a black bow on half-up, half-down do, a hairstyle quite reminiscent of French star Brigitte Bardot.

The statement hair bow is such an enduring motif for the brand, often appearing on the catwalk in various iterations through the years, sometimes made even more feminine with a white camellia in the center. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, the grand dame herself was a fan, often accenting her sophisticated bob with gorgeous ribbons in noir.

And while a black bow is eternally stylish, there is also something quite enchanting with the trend’s bejeweled versions, especially now in the midst of peak holiday season. Draw inspiration from Dakota Fanning at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, as well as Zoey Deutch whose sparkly diamond bow enchanted at the premiere of Something from Tiffany’s. On loose, cascading, grown-up waves, the crystalline ribbons give off quite a magical allure.

If you prefer something daintier, we love how Blackpink’s Rosé and Jennie don theirs, harking a girlish return to innocence with mini bows on long, straight hair.

Whatever form it may come in, ribbons are a perennial fashion favorite, symbolizing romance and style.

And while a designer bow is absolutely drool-worthy, they’re not absolutely necessary to get in on this trend. A little je ne sais quoi, a good blowout, and a handful of ribbons styled cleverly into one’s locks, and you’re sure to look tres chic at your next soiree.
