Hollywood turned out in full force on Saturday for its favorite Q4 night out: the sixth annual Academy Museum of Motion Pictures gala, an evening that doubled as a celebration of the museum’s anniversary and raised more than $14 million for its exhibitions, education initiatives, and public programs.
Co-chaired by Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg, and Kate Capshaw, and presented in partnership with Rolex, the night once again drew a guest list that read like a year’s worth of premieres rolled into one.
Ana de Armas, Jacob Elordi, Sabrina Carpenter, and Colin Farrell were among the arrivals, while Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and a vintageVintageClothing and accessories from an earlier era, generally at least twenty years old, that reflect the style and craftsmanship of their time. Sarah Paulson, in custom Ferragamo, had designer Maximilian Davis on her arm. Old Hollywood and new-gen stars alike were well represented, as the likes of Hunter Schafer, Rosé, and Connor Storrie made the rounds with Pamela Anderson and Pierce Brosnan.
Amy Homma, director and president of the Academy Museum and Academy Collection, opened the program with a look back at the museum’s first five years, followed by a toast from trustee Olivier de Givenchy. Jamie Lee Curtis, no stranger to a scream, then took the stage to reflect on the enduring pull of the horror genre and spotlight the museum’s newest exhibition, The Horror Show. Fittingly, she introduced Rodriguez, who presented filmmaker and composer John Carpenter, the man behind Halloween, with the Luminary Award.
Sigourney Weaver followed, presenting the Icon Award to Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron. After dinner, prepared by guest chef Antonia Lofaso and Wolfgang Puck Catering, Judd Apatow introduced Ford, who handed over the Vantage Award to an ever-stylish Colman Domingo.
Then came the black-tie affair’s hotly anticipated entertainment. Introduced by Conan O’Brien, Taylor Swift emerged for a set filled with some of her most popular songs, bringing the celebration to a close. Just like her July nuptials, Swift once again turned to Dior for her moment in the spotlight.
