Tonight, the 2026 Emmys served as the TV world’s biggest and most exciting night. Staged at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles (and hosted by Mariska Hargitay, no less), the awards ceremony celebrated the best performances of the year—and the red carpet before was its own glamorous affair worth tuning in for.
So, who were the standouts? Naturally, some of the leading nominees of the night were also among the best dressed. Uniting it all was a bevy of classic Hollywood silhouettes—but with contemporary twists that made them feel fresh and elevated. Not to mention, in beautiful and unexpected colors.
Take Love Story star Sarah Pidgeon, who nodded to her screen character Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy in a lilac Chanel slip dress with pearl embroidery: ’90s minimalism done right. Or Elle Fanning in her mint-green Ralph Lauren Collection slip, which made up for its simplicity with its peppy color. They were prime examples that less is usually more.
Though the more maximalist looks shined too—quite literally, in some cases. Zendaya turned heads in her bejeweled Prada gown, as one of the few A-list stars who could pull off being the fashion equivalent of a chandelier. Ditto for Selena Gomez in her golden Louis Vuitton column gown, which nodded to the Emmy statuette. (Also of note: Hacks star Meg Stalter literally turning into an Emmy award.)
As for some of the best-dressed gents of the evening? Colman Domingo—always a style star—wore a robe-style jacket from Valentino with flared trousers. Alan Cumming also took a break from his theatrical The Traitors wardrobe to deliver a sleek, black-and-white embroidered tuxedo.
