After wrapping his eight-month-long Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour at the end of July, Bad Bunny had one thing left to do before a well-deserved vacation: an Italian dinner date with a very special lady. So mere days after he took his final bow in Brussels, the singer—also known as Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—strolled into a restaurant in his native Puerto Rico with Sansa Martínez Berlingeri, his four-year-old beagle.
The singer got Sansa when she was just three months old. Her personality, which he describes as affectionate, playful, and sometimes “un poco bicha—but nice,” earned the young pup her Game of Thrones–inspired name. “She has that same strength and presence,” Martínez Ocasio says of the similarities between the pup and Sophie Turner’s character, Sansa Stark. “The name just felt right from the beginning.”
All that to say, Sansa is a self-possessed woman. “She definitely has her own personality and isn’t afraid to let you know what she wants,” he says. While Sansa may be better behaved than most other members of her breed, she did inherit their proclivity for noisiness—though Martínez Ocasio insists that she’s still quieter than most. (One could also say she takes after her singer dad.) “She’s the sweetest, even if she barks at you first,” he says. “That’s just her way of introducing herself.”
While Sansa lives a stable life in Puerto Rico, largely out of the spotlight, her Dogue shoot isn’t her first time in front of the camera: the beagle starred in Bad Bunny’s “Ojitos Lindos” music video, posted to YouTube on Valentine’s Day 2023. (And he’s still hung up on her ojitos: “They’re this mix of green and yellow that immediately catches your attention,” he says.)
Back at the restaurant, which was transformed into a simple Italian bistro for their Dogue cover shoot, Sansa and Bad Bunny enjoyed a spaghetti dinner worthy of a Lady and the Tramp reboot. Sansa, a consummate professional like her superstar dad, gamely posed for the camera without any fuss. “For a beagle, she’s really well-behaved,” Martínez Ocasio tells Vogue. “If you know, you know.” But no matter her professionalism, Sansa was not above bribery: treats clandestinely passed between shots, plates of spaghetti waved in her face, and—her favorite—a ball encased in a butter yellow sock to play with.
Despite the many treats, “she’d probably say I’m a strict dad,” Martínez Ocasio says. “Pero amoroso que siempre está dispuesto para ver televisión junto con ella. [But loving and always willing to watch television with her.”]” And isn’t that what it’s really all about—having someone to snuggle up with and watch TV? “Mornings always start with lots of kisses. Then it’s eat, play, sleep, play again, eat again, sleep again,” Martínez Ocasio says of their routine together. “It’s a simple life, and honestly, I think she’s figured it out better than the rest of us.”
