The Love Letters of Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Catriona Gray, and Nicole Cordoves

Inspired by HardWear by Tiffany, handwritten letters become reflections on the people, memories, and moments that continue to shape how love is carried forward.

Every love letter begins the same way, with a name. What follows, however, is rarely just about love itself. Sometimes it is about choosing one another, again and again. Sometimes, it is about learning to extend that same grace to yourself. Through handwritten letters, Catriona Gray, Nicole Cordoves, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith reflect on the relationships and moments of introspection that continue to shape them long after the words are written.

For Nicole and Catriona, those words are rooted in a friendship strengthened as much by difficult seasons as joyful ones. “We are both the type of people to consciously choose [who] we surround ourselves with,” says Nicole. “So, when we do choose these people, it’s a forever kind of thing.”

Over the years, that choice has come to mean far more than celebrating milestones together. It has also meant navigating uncertainty, offering perspective, and becoming a constant presence in each other’s lives. Looking back, both women describe their friendship less through memorable occasions than through the ways they have learned to understand one another.

Catriona describes their friendship as a place where she can be fully herself. “She gives me balance. She gives me pause and she sees all parts of me. I really truly feel known by her,” reflects the 32-year-old. “She gives me room for my mess or to be silly. To be, you know, serious or emotional. She gives me space for all that. And so, I really truly feel known by her.”

Nicole shares a similar sentiment, recalling that some of life’s most difficult moments only reinforced the depth of their bond. “There were a lot of times when I thought I had no one to hold onto in life; we were there for each other. So, that proved the test of our friendship.”

Their letters to each other echo that same understanding through promises of constancy. “Life is so much better, chaotic, and colorful doing it with you,” Catriona writes. Nicole responds with a promise of her own: “Let’s see this life through together.”

For Jasmine, the letter is addressed to a different recipient: herself. Written as a reflection on change, it speaks about making space for mistakes, grief, uncertainty, and growth. The message is rooted in a year that reshaped how she understands both strength and self-compassion.

“It’s the love that can witness me without having to consciously always choose me. For me, it’s enough that you see me,” she says. That idea of being seen also extends inward. Reflecting on the months that followed personal loss, Curtis-Smith speaks about learning to appreciate rest, to move through each day without placing unrealistic expectations on herself, and to recognize that growth can happen quietly. In the process, she also found greater confidence in her own voice. “I will share who I am and I will take up space. And I think that’s the strength that has given me more power to keep on talking,” Jasmine says.

In her letter, she leaves herself with a reminder, “Keep trusting in that change and the strength it has poured into you to keep unfolding and blooming.”

Each message arrives at the same understanding: love is sustained through choice.
