BINI was the cherry on top of Laufey’s second night in Manila for the A Matter of Time Tour. The eight-member P-pop girl group joined the Grammy Award-winning jazz-pop sensation and Vogue Philippines’ May 2026 cover star on stage for a surprise performance, becoming the first Filipino act to share the stage with Laufey.
At soundcheck, Laufey steps onstage in a red jersey with “MAHAL KITA” (“I love you” in Tagalog) printed in bold white letters across the front and “PILIPINS” on the back. Joining the lineup of eight girls, she beams, “I’ve never felt cooler!” Together, they discuss choreographies and rehearse Laufey’s 2023 hit single “From The Start” as a special surprise performance for tonight’s crowd of ribbons and tulle.
Ahead of the concert, BINI member Maloi Ricalde recalls their first interaction at the 2026 Billboard Women in Music event in Los Angeles, weeks after the group’s historic Coachella debut. “We’re newcomers [to the industry,] but she was very warm and was very nice, and she didn’t make us feel as if we were different from her,” she recalls.
After the event, Ricalde approached the Chinese-Icelandic singer for a photo as a fan, only for Laufey to tell her that she had recognized them from earlier that day. “She said, ‘Yeah, of course! I saw you earlier,’” Maloi shares. The exchange led to a conversation about Laufey’s upcoming Manila shows. “She suggested that our managers contact each other. I didn’t expect anything, but after a few weeks, our boss told us that we’re going to perform with her…on my birthday! So, I was like, okay, I’m gonna postpone everything on my birthday, and I’m going to perform with her.”
The performance took place during Laufey’s second of three sold-out shows in Manila for the A Matter of Time Tour. It marked a milestone for BINI, who continue to bring OPM to a wider global audience following their Coachella debut.
