From BTS’ Arirang to A24’s The Drama, Here Are the Films and Series Coming to Philippine Screens

This April, films and series such as The Drama, BTS’ Arirang, Euphoria, XO, Kitty, and more are coming to our screens.

The awards season just ended, but people are already anticipating next season’s nominees. There’s Robert Pattinson, kicking the year off with The Drama with co-star Zendaya, whom he will also appear alongside in upcoming films The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three. The highly anticipated biopic Michael is also coming to Philippine cinemas this April, while BTS’ World Tour Arirang in Goyang and Japan will surely fill the seats with fans.

On streaming, Xyriel Manabat marks her first film lead role with Netflix’s 18th Rose. Stranger Things is also crawling its way back into our minds with Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85. This month, other popular series are also coming back with a new season, such as Euphoria and XO, Kitty.

Below, see the upcoming films and series coming to the Philippines this April.

XO, Kitty

On April 2, XO, Kitty returns with a third season. In this upcoming season, Kitty Song Covey (played by Anna Cathcart) returns to KISS for her senior year to tackle a “Senior Sunset” checklist, define her relationship with Min Ho, and navigate through surprise obstacles. The series also teases a reunion between Kitty and Lara Jean (Lana Condor).

The Drama

On April 4, everyone will finally know about The Drama. Starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, the film follows the story of a happily engaged couple put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.

Salum

Directed by TM Malones, last year’s Puregold Cinepanalo entry Salum will exclusively screen at the FDCP Cinematheque Centre Iloilo on April 8, 17, and 25. The story follows a father and a daughter, both exceptional scallop divers, who discover a rare clam allegedly containing a pearl worth millions.

18th Rose

On April 9, Xyriel Manabat debuts her first lead role in a film. Starring opposite Kyle Echarri, the story follows a teenage girl dreaming of the perfect debut, going as far as to strike a deal with a lonely newcomer. However, unexpected feelings and revelations may shatter their plans.

BTS World Tour Arirang

On April 11 and 18, BTS fans can live-watch the BTS World Tour Arirang in cinemas, set in Goyang and Japan, respectively. The world tour marks their first large-scale tour in four years, spanning 34 cities across the world with a total of 82 shows.

Euphoria

Almost seven years since its last season, Euphoria returns on HBO Max on April 12. The season will feature a five-year time jump, focusing on the characters as adults. Rue (Zendaya) works to maintain sobriety while navigating debt to Laurie, Jules (Hunter Schafer) is in art school, and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) is engaged to Nate (Jacob Elordi) in the suburbs, with Maddy (Alexa Demie) working in Hollywood.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85

Following the series finale of Stranger Things, Netflix is coming out with a new animated spin-off series on April 23. Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 takes place during the winter of 1985, filling in a “lost season” between seasons 2 and 3, where the kids face a new, snowy, dangerous threat, featuring a new character named Nikki Baxter.

Michael

The long-awaited biopic Michael will finally hit the silver screens on April 22. Starring Jaafar Jackson as Michael, the film is the cinematic portrayal of the life and legacy of the “King of Pop,” from his beginnings as the lead of Jackson Five, to becoming the biggest entertainer in the world.

Mother Mary

Ahead of The Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere, we’ll see Anne Hathaway as a pop star first in Mother Mary. Opening in cinemas on April 22, the story tells the story of pop star Mother Mary, whose long-buried wounds rise to the surface when she unites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer on the eve of her comeback performance.
