In celebration of World Cucumber Day, Hendrick’s Gin takes over 50 establishments across Metro Manila
Although regarded as the unofficial holiday for the humble gourd, Hendrick’s Gin views June 14th, better known as World Cucumber Day, as more than a reference to its distinct flavor; it becomes a shared celebration of the whimsy in exploring the unconventional.
Just last May, the Scotland-born distillery hosted an art nouveau-themed early gathering in Electric Garden, BGC, as preparation for the holiday. From complimentary tarot card readings themed to the flavor notes of Hendrick’s Gin to a handfan-decorating workshop, guests also shared an intimate dining experience with servings of “Hendrick’s and Tonic” paired alongside.
Later in the evening, South East Asia brand ambassador Charmaine Thio shared the significance of the favored gourd to Hendrick’s Gin’s flavor and heritage, later raising a toast to the peculiar fruit.
“Rose and cucumber are our two signature essences, and we really want to celebrate what makes us different,” Thio shared. “Celebrating what makes you stand out is something we’ve always believed to be part of our philosophy.”
With the holiday drawing closer, Hendrick’s Gin now gears up its annual celebration by partnering with 50 establishments in Metro Manila for its Cucumber Currency Exchange weekend from June 12th to June 14th.
Happening every 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., guests would just need to present their hand-picked gourd at the bar to be given a glass of the classic cocktail, with certain establishments providing complimentary tarot card readings with every two Hendrick’s Gin-blended beverages.
“The cucumber has always been our muse, if not, a quiet hero in the Hendrick’s Gin experience. World Cucumber Day is a celebration of its charm and the refreshing oddity that Hendrick’s brings to the glass,” Thio ends.
