Gucci will return to its roots in Florence to unveil the Cruise 2026 collection during a special showcase at the brand’s historic archive, located within Palazzo Settimanni on Via delle Caldaie.

“Returning to Florence, and especially to Palazzo Settimanni, is both a tribute and a statement of intent,” said Gucci CEO Stefano Cantino. “The archive is not just a keeper of our past. It is a living space where Gucci’s identity is preserved and reimagined. Presenting the Cruise 2026 collection here renews our connection with our cultural and artisanal heritage while moving forward with purpose.”

Gucci purchased the 15th-century building in 1953, and over the decades, it has served as a factory, showroom, and workshop. In 2021, it was transformed into the Gucci Archive, restored to honor its history and showcase pieces from the brand’s legacy.

Florence’s mayor, Sara Funaro, shared her pride in hosting the show. “We are proud to welcome Gucci’s Cruise collection to the city where the brand was born. Palazzo Settimanni, located in the artisan-rich Oltrarno district, is the place that best tells its story,” she said.

She also emphasized the deep connection between Gucci and the city. “This is a homecoming for a brand that never really left. Gucci has always maintained its strong roots in Florence through local production hubs and historic spaces that enrich the city’s identity.”

The show highlights Florence’s continued importance in the global fashion industry and its rich tradition of craftsmanship. To support the city further, Gucci will contribute to the Estate Fiorentina 2026 cultural program and the redevelopment of Parco delle Cascine.

Today, on May 15, Gucci will open the doors of its archive at Palazzo Settimanni to the public, offering a rare look into the house’s history.

The event also marks a new chapter for the brand. Following Sabato De Sarno’s departure in February, Demna was named Gucci’s new creative lead in March. He will present his final collection for Balenciaga in July before fully stepping into his role.
