The father-and-son duo reflect on the evolution of their relationship and the shared legacy they hope impart
If there’s one thing you need to know about Donny Pangilinan is that he can never truly stay still. Even in moments of repose at home, the actor always tries to find something to keep him preoccupied, whether that’s picking his sister up from school or keeping up with his morning workout routine.
In most instances, Donny credits this ever-busy lifestyle to his father, Anthony, given his multifaceted career and equally opportunistic mindset. “My parents taught us that there are so many opportunities in life, and we really have to try everything to get to know what we like doing,” says Donny in a previous interview with Vogue Man Philippines.
For the Japanese watch brand Seiko, legacy is shaped through the everyday values that get passed down and, over time, become heirlooms. In its “Raising A Legacy” campaign, the brand turns to a father-and-son duo to reflect on how their relationship has evolved, and what it means to lead a legacy that empowers rather than dictates.
“My dad is a family man through and through. He is committed to the well-being of everyone in our family so we can pay it forward,” Donny shares. Maintaining a close bond with his family is a value Anthony hopes to pass on as well. “My children taught me to dream of a future,” Anthony adds. “They even teach me more than I do them, sometimes.”
From watching Donny take a measured, intentional approach to building his career in show business to witnessing him expand into business and real estate, Anthony speaks about wanting to be present for every milestone. “With my children, the future is made up of the present moments, and the precious seconds you’re going through the ebb and flow of life,” he says.
For the 28-year-old, career growth goes beyond recognition. It’s building a narrative that represents perseverance, professionalism, and empowerment. “More than achievements and peer recognition, I want to be able to craft my own legacy as well,” Donny adds. “We are only as valuable as the lives we’ve touched and the impression we leave behind, so I would like you to be part of those amazing characters that push people forward.”
Anthony also reflects on how their shared Seiko timepieces have become a part of their family’s story. “It is part of a man’s right of passage,” he explains.
“Between fathers and sons, a watch is deeply sentimental;
I have a 70-year-old watch that my grandfather gave
to my dad, and now it is entrusted to me.”
While Donny echoes the sentiment, noting that each watch he receives from his father is also another aspect of his story that he hopes to emulate with each wear. “The value of the inherited pieces I receive from my father is beyond their monetary value. It symbolizes the life lessons he has earned and how he passes them on to me, hoping I expound on them,” he shares.
King Seiko emerged in the 60s with a clear point of view: defined by a strong design philosophy and careful mechanical craft. In its return today, the line picks up from that same vision, subtly updated for the present while keeping the cues that made it distinctive in the first place.
Anthony and Donny Pangilinan mirror that journey. As father and son, they represent legacy in motion. Anthony reflects the foundation, experience, and enduring values, while Donny embodies evolution, fresh perspective, and contemporary confidence. Together, they symbolize how tradition can be passed down, reinterpreted, and made relevant for a new generation.
Since the first watch that bore the Seiko logo in 1924 was released, the brand has taken pride in the stories its wearers build over time. For Donny and Anthony the King Seiko collection reflects the kind of legacy they hope to leave behind; traditional in foundation, yet refined for the present, and designed to endure across generations..
“I want the next generation to know that it’s not what they accomplish that people will remember most, but how they treated others in the course of their life. It’s important to put effort into being a great example in these aspects because it is what will leave an imprint,” Anthony shares.
