Vanessa Kirby’s Outfit in Paris Was Inspired by the 60s and Coffee Beans

An artful combination of lady-like sophistication and understated elegance, the British actor was the epitome of royalty

Princess Margaret may be known for her bold, colorful, and daring fitted looks, but Vanessa Kirby prefers feminine classics and timeless ensembles on and off the red carpet.

The British actress who portrayed the “rebel royal” in the first two seasons of The Crown is more likely to be seen in the likes of her two-piece shimmery number at this year’s BAFTAs.

“I’m not a model. I don’t really think much about how I look. If I did, I’d go mad,” she admits in an interview with British Vogue.

True to form, Kirby’s sense of style was on full display at the reopening of Cartier’s flagship boutique in rue de la Paix with a dinner banquet. Two years since the Maison closed its renowned abode to make way for its renovation, Cartier celebrated its ever-evolving style with the unveiling of Grain de Café, a collection that includes a necklace, bracelet, and two rings in yellow gold and diamonds.

With an impeccable taste in high jewelry, the 34-year-old punctuated her white cut-away dress and metallic strappy heels with pieces from the golden coffee motif by the French jeweler.

The Wimbledon-born actress wore the 18K necklace that was subtly jangling on her neckline along with a bracelet and ring that showed the ribbed concave textures of the beans, clustered to create seemingly flower petals set with brilliant-cut diamonds.

The Grain de Café has been worn by Hollywood legends like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly through the 50s and 60s, movie and fashion eras that Kirby holds a strong affinity for. The six-piece collection was inspired by the coffee culture that Jeanne Toussaint, Cartier’s famed creative director, was largely a part of.

With a focus on its natural shape and color, it features a distinctive grain pattern that recalls the shape and texture of a coffee bean. It was a take by Toussaint on floral themes that were emblematic of the post-war boom.

The Grain de Café collection will be available exclusively at the Cartier 13 Paix boutique from the 28th of October, and in London, New York, Dubai and Shanghai boutiques from the 1st of December 2022.

In the Philippines, Cartier is located at Greenbelt 4, Solaire Resorts and Casino, and Rustan’s Shangri-La Plaza. To learn more, visit Cartier’s official website.
