Levi’s® transforms its signature denim into a collection of essentials fit for the summer warmth
Shedding layers of long sleeves, jackets, and outerwear, the onset of summer reveals a display of lighter fabrics and more relaxed silhouettes. As the world transitions toward warmer temperatures, fashion choices often become more limited. Layering during this season is impractical, as heavier textiles only add toward the heat and humidity toward the body. Because of this, materials such as linen, jersey, and cotton have become staples in crafting summer looks, cooling the body with each stride.
In comparison, heavy denim is often seen as an insulating material used in clothing, and is not usually included in a typical summer ensemble. In response to this, Levi’s® new summer 2024 essentials takes a different approach to denim by maintaining its versatility as a styling option, while also weaving lighter, more breathable textiles into its construction.
As a warm breeze begins to envelop every corner of the metro, the new collection focuses on highlighting a number of essentials that can serve as the foundation for any wardrobe. Due to the temperate climate, each article of clothing throughout the new release is designed with loose fits and fabrication in mind; introducing a range of tops, dresses, trucker jackets, and baggy-fit jeans that encapsulate the casualness of summer dressing.
Every garment in the collection features softer fabrics that add a layer of ventilation to its construction. For its women’s pieces, the Carinna, the Pascale, and the Halsey set of blouses are developed in a combination of various lighter materials, including soft denim, cotton twill, and linen as a way to maximize comfort while enduring the heat.
Each of these tops also capture a Western aesthetic that calls back to Levi’s® history with the working professions of the early United States, serving cowboys, lumberjacks and railroad workers among the general population. Apart from these essentials, the collection also introduces a series of loose and flowy dresses in a variety of vibrant prints, patterns, and lengths as well.
Adding depth to the collection’s design language, Levi’s® embraces a more calm and relaxed tone throughout the collection with fits that effortlessly drape across the body. Taking inspiration from styles of the ‘90s and early 2000s, roomy silhouettes are emphasized to create volume. This is mostly seen in their new selection of bottoms, with the introduction of the new Baggy Dad set of trousers; which include denim in both straight and wide cuts, a pleated variation, utility cargos, and the featherweight Baggy Dad as Levi’s® lightest expression of denim in its history.
