Creative director Maximilian Davis brings forward a new approach to Ferragamo style with the release of the Hug Bag.

Hailing from the small town of Bonito, Italy, Salvatore Ferragamo began his journey as a shoemaker looking to prove himself through his expertise in Italian craftsmanship. From servicing the rising film stars of the roaring 20s, Ferragamo had built a legacy grounded in quality shoemaking and handmade leather products for nearly a century.

Currently taking up the mantle of Ferragamo’s creative director is Maximilian Davis, who continues to honor the house’s history of luxury leather making with the release of his Fall-Winter 2023 collection. Titled “New Renaissance,” Davis seeks to imbue modern design with the brand’s traditional high craftsmanship.

Straight from the runway of their Fall-Winter show in Milan, the “Hug Bag” was first unveiled to the public in line with Davis’ vision for Ferragamo’s resurgence.

Built in an asymmetrical, accordion style construction, the bag features multi-panel detailing which overlaps through the front of the body. It is fastened with two Gancini buckles in a number of gold or palladium based finishes, with the straps embracing the front panel – giving the bag its distinctive “hug shape.”

Inspired from Ferragamo’s history of decorating Hollywood stars, the bag is adorned with brushed calfskin, patent leather, and suede, calling back to their roots in cinema and in biker influences.

To lead Ferragamo’s renaissance, the fashion house will be releasing the Hug bag in two sizes – a handbag and a pouch, and will be available in black, white, midnight blue, yellow and flame red.

Accompanying this collection, Ferragamo presents a new batch of footwear this Fall-Winter 2023. Mirroring scenes from Baroque art, the Bejeweled Sandal is embellished with gold twists and cords across its leather lining. Adhering to the collection’s renaissance elements, the Cut-Out Details Shoe takes inspiration from the colors of an opera theater, while also maintaining purposefully fragmented details.

In the Philippines, Ferragamo is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Greenbelt 4, Rustan’s Shangri-La, and Rustan’s Makati. You can also shop Ferragamo online at trunc.ph and rustans.com.
