The actress and drag queen share their experiences of achieving an even-toned face at the relaunch of NIVEA Luminous630 with Thiamidol
Janine Gutierrez loves the sun. As someone who enjoys sunbathing and lounging by the shore, she has long accepted that beach days come with a price: hyperpigmentation. “My skin is sensitive,” admits the 35-year-old actress, confessing that despite her best efforts, dark spots always seem to come back.
A week before the relaunch of NIVEA Luminous630, the actress tried the product range for the first time to observe if it would deliver results. Her trial of the products came with a catch: could she go to an event barefaced?
For an afternoon in SM Mall of Asia Atrium, guests embraced the spirit of the event by arriving barefaced, not as a challenge but as a celebration of skin confidence. The venue’s hexagonal design mirrored the molecular structure of the Luminous630, reinforcing the science behind the skincare innovation.
In partnership with Vogue Philippines, guests were also immersed in a variety of vignettes that strengthen the message of knowing your skin, finding tangible solutions, and feeling good about yourself.

All dressed in white, attendees theatre actress Gab Pangilinan, NIVEA ambassadors Precious Paula Nicole and Janine Gutierrez, and drag queens Eva Le Queen, Khianna, and Tita Baby were reintroduced to the Luminous630, now with Thiamidol, an ingredient developed through Beiersdorf’s clinical research. Based on their results, it has been shown to help reduce the appearance of dark spots at the root cause.
According to Beiersdorf Philippines’ marketing director, Nikki Seelen, their breakthrough ingredient, Thiamidol, is patented by Beiersdorf. Seelen shared that the global skin care brand is the only one who found a way to synthesize melanin against human tyrosinase, a structure exactly the same we find in humans.
“Instead of adjusting your lifestyle, there’s a product that can still support [that] and still protect your skin and make sure you look luminous,” says Gutierrez, sharing her recent experience trying the Thiamidol-formulated product line.
“Kahit hindi ako naka-makeup, confident ako,” shares Drag Queen Precious Paula Nicole, who has been using NIVEA for skincare for the past three years. Recently, she incorporated the Luminous630 range into their routine, exploring its potential benefits for the skin. (Even if I’m not in makeup, I am confident.)
The RuPaul’s Drag Race Philippines Season 1 winner relates how throughout their 15-year career, each day was all about makeup and being conscious about how they look, especially when they are off drag and fans would like to take photos.

Thiamidol, based on Beiersdorf’s 10 years of extensive research and as explained by Seelen, is an ingredient that works at the cellular level to inhibit melanin production, targeting the root cause of dark spots.
The event also featured a skin analysis booth, a skin consultation with Dr. Regina Pastor and Dr. Elaine Melody Co, and a Barefaced Photo Shoot session with photographer Elena Ortega-Ong. The three-product range powered by Thiamidol includes: NIVEA Luminous630 Antispot Advanced Dark Spot Serum, NIVEA Luminous630 AntiSpot Daily Moisturizer Light Cream SPF50 PA+++, and NIVEA Luminous630 Antispot Night Complexion Repair.
For Gutierrez, luminosity is more than just skin deep: “I think true luminosity is about being able to shine a light on what is inside your heart and what matters to you.” Precious Paula Nicole echoes the sentiment, capturing the essence of the event: “You have to be happy on the inside so it reflects outward.”
