It’s no secret that these two industries have paralleled one another in a lot of ways. With the OPPO Find N2 Flip, we can see more in a snap.
There was a time when flip phones were the rage, especially since they took off in the mid-90s with their pocket-friendly design. More than its significance in the way people engaged with one another, its distinct shapes also had a place in pop culture, from Alica Silverstone’s character Cher using it to call her best friend Dionne in Clueless, to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw toting a pink bedazzled clamshell phone in Sex and the City.
After a years-long hiatus and intertwined with the Y2K renaissance, the hinged cellphones of the 90s until the mid-2010s are reemerging with new life in the form of foldable phones that combine the latest innovation in smartphone technology with the nostalgia of the flip phone. Leading global smart device brand OPPO’s answer to this movement is the Find N2 Flip, billed as being able to bridge fashion and technology.
This symbiotic relationship between fashion and smartphone technology was also reflected in Milan Fashion Week 2023 as a collaboration with ACT N°1, showing off the OPPO Find N2 Flip’s seamless design in colors, Astral Black and Moonlit Purple.
In unfolding its many features, the OPPO foldable phone tapped four Filipino creatives to interpret how it has inspired their art and style from sculptures, fashion ensembles, and photography.
While stylish, the Find N2 Flip also has a mind for productivity with its cover screen widgets. Its users also have varied ways of shooting photos in Flexform mode—from Dual Preview, Flexform Selfie, and Waist-level framing—through its 50 MP rear and 32 MP front-facing Hasselblad-engineered cameras.
Once unfurled, the compact OPPO smartphone reveals a tall cover screen with minimal crease supported by its Flexion Hinge. The foldable phone has a 21:9 aspect ratio, weighs 191 grams, and is 7.45 millimeters thick, making it ideal for viewing high-definition videos.
For Luca Lin, co-founder of ACT N°1, the collaboration with the global smartphone brand is a timely effort by two linked industries to create synergies and storytelling, “[It’s] about the balance between innovation and elegance, free creativity and functionality, interiority and aesthetics, power and lightness.”
In merging fashion and technology, OPPO’s CRM and PR Head in the Philippines, Joanarc Sales shares how they’re going all in with their product portfolio. “It is an exciting time for us as we unfold a new chapter—one that is bigger, bolder, and better.” She continues, “We can say the strength in innovation will continue into the future, where foldable is the future. Our goal has always been to create the best products that delight our users, not necessarily to be the first to market.”
