Sarah Burton begins her stint at Givenchy by capturing the intimacy and strength found in women creating together.
For her first Givenchy campaign, the house’s newly appointed creative director Sarah Burton focuses on creative women working together. “Kaia Gerber and Halina Reijn captured something I love about how creative women collaborate,” she says. “The idea behind my first campaign for Givenchy was to focus on the friendship between a film director and an actor. I wanted it to celebrate the female gaze.”
Photographed with a sense of intimacy, the campaign shows moments between the two women as they move between work and conversation. In one image, Halina adjusts Kaia’s hemline. In another, Kaia holds a script while seated in a slip dress and loafers, as though caught between scenes.
The collection reflects this subtle approach in her debut collection for the house. The tailoring is precise, the silhouettes clear, and the references to Givenchy’s archive are present but not heavy-handed. The styling leans toward pieces that feel wearable without losing their connection to the runway. Burton’s new chapter with Givenchy opens with an emphasis on connection, framing fashion not only as presentation but also as an exchange between women, shaped by perspective and collaboration.
In the Philippines, Givenchy is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Shangri-La Plaza Mall East Wing, Greenbelt 4, and Solaire Resort Entertainment City. Visit ssilife.com.ph or follow @ssilifeph on Instagram for more information.
