All while honoring designer Aldo Cipullo’s distinct craftsmanship and creative inspiration, Maison Cartier introduces a new medium-sized variation for its LOVE bracelet collection

After 56 years since its creation, the Cartier LOVE Bracelet has remained a mainstay within the Parisian jeweler’s ensemble of creations. Known for its understated design, the bracelet initially served as a symbol of enduring affection and commitment between romantic partners, leading to a screwed-in clasp that could only be worn and removed with the help of another.

Yet, prior to its now-known purpose, the LOVE bracelet had actually stemmed its inspiration from designer Aldo Cipullo’s own experiences, specifically with that of his romantic history.

Around the time of his move to the city of New York, the Italian native grew fond of the cityscape’s industrial aesthetic, frequently visiting hardware stores with his brother Renato amid their studies at the Manhattan School of Visual Arts. This eventually became the source of inspiration for the young designer’s work for Cartier, applying his design language of creating jewelry that did not seek to emphasize the wearer’s status or wealth.

What it emphasized, however, was Cipullo’s interpretation of a love once had, which was driven by a moment of heartbreak from a previous partner. “I felt very sad. I wanted something no one could take away from me. I was searching for a permanent symbol of love,” he shared. This, of course, led to the creation of the LOVE bracelet which continues to be worn by couples, but also by those who wish to represent the sentimental permanence that the late designer had searched for.

Today, Maison Cartier continues to honor Cipullo’s work by introducing a medium-sized variation to the LOVE bracelet collection. Retaining its inherent design cues such as the screw motifs and oval shape, the collection’s new addition also serves as a mediator between its classic and small sizes.

Arriving in white, yellow, or pink 18-carat gold, the now-three-sized ensemble offers a brushed metal finish to each color variation. Initially introduced through the collection’s smaller size, the brand’s single-use locking mechanism now stands as its own variation for each size, allowing the wearer to use the bracelet independently.

Whether as a gift for those that reflect the accessory’s embedded meaning or as a new way to layer alongside its other sizes and finishes, the Cartier LOVE bracelet now offers a sense of versatility with its updated design, all while retaining the elements that make it the timeless piece it has been known for over the years.
