For three decades, Designer Blooms has curated floral arrangements for Filipinos and their loved ones with the intention of “making Everyday Extraordinary”

In Vancouver, Canada, Rica Garcia birthed an idea about selling floral bouquets from the comforts of their garage. Alongside her husband, Ting, and his business acumen, the couple brought Designer Blooms to the Philippines at the onset of mall expansions in the 90s, with the concept of creating a floral experience like no other.

Years later, the spark of an idea blossomed into “30 Years of Extraordinary,” this year’s anniversary theme. In a recent interview with the Garcia Family, Ting says, “As it was expressed by Rica, my wife, the goal in mind is to make ordinary moments of everyday lives really special.””

The patriarch of the Garcia brood also shared that since the business’ inception, each decision was to create one-of-a-kind floral experiences, gifts, and decór for celebrations and living spaces.

Inspiring the theme of this year’s celebration is the brand’s philosophy of touching up details for Designer Bloom’s customer journey. Isa Garcia-Sicam, one of Rica’s daughters, shares that, “There was a lot of intention and thought put into everything that was done. From the smell of Dewberry as people entered the stores or receiving the flowers, to the materials that we’ve used, even up to the packaging.”

Garcia-Sicam also notes that the motif of this year’s anniversary was fit to honor the philosophy that her mother began and what the family business continues to uphold.

Further expanding their reach beyond the Philippines, Designer Blooms brought their floral boutique into the international scene, starting with their previous hometown of Vancouver. Since 2022, the well-known Filipino floral brand now ships to Canada and the United States with celebrities like Selma Blair, Kristen Dunst, and Jessica Alba posting about their fresh bouquets in their homes on Instagram.

Lessons from mom

As the brand celebrates three decades in the art of floristry, Designer Blooms launched the “30th-Year Collection.” Marie, one-half of the Garcia sisters, reveals their anniversary features seven inspired arrangements. “We wanted flowers close to us and the lessons our mom passed on. So we have the Rose, Peony, and Tulip bouquets that my mom, sister, and I love. Then, of course, the Palawan, a signature DB piece,” shares Marie.

Another series of bouquets named Empower, Encourage, and Nurture, are named after the values the family advocates for. As a way for the floral boutique to pay it forward, 30 per cent of this collection’s proceeds will go to the company’s partner cancer organization.

The year’s celebration also features the “Extraordinary 30th,” a surprise promotion every 30th day of the month with one-day-only events of discounts, gifts, and limited-edition creations. The floral brand also introduced a video series called Extraordinary Stories on their social media pages as an ode to those who have been a part of Designer Bloom’s success.

Designer Blooms and their 30th Anniversary Collection is available in the Philippines, Canada, and the United States. For more information, visit Designer Bloom’s official website.
