To the thrill of all right-thinking people, Selena Gomez seems to have found her perfect partner in record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco, who became the Only Murders in the Building star’s fiancé in December. Below, find a quick timeline of Gomez and Blanco’s relationship, from the first song they released together (ah, 2019; were we ever so young?) to their recent engagement.

March 2019: Gomez and Blanco release their first collab

The two artists released the reggaeton song “I Can’t Get Enough” with Tainy and J Balvin a whopping six years ago. No, they weren’t known to be involved at the time, but surely some sparks flew in the recording booth?

October 2023: Blanco attends the inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit

In a sweet sign of things to come, Blanco could be seen wielding a bidding paddle at a fundraiser for Gomez’s Rare Impact Fund in the fall of 2023. (Gallant!) Gomez returned the supportive gesture a few weeks later, promoting his cookbook on her Stories.

December 2023: Gomez makes it Instagram-official (sort of)

Two months later, Gomez used a cheeky series of Instagram Stories to soft-launch her relationship with Blanco, beginning with a December 7 selfie in which her head rests against his chest. Intimate!

December 2023: Gomez puts a ring on it (but not that kind of ring)

Is there anything more adorable than wearing your partner’s initial on a piece of jewelry? Gomez continued her Stories soft launch with the shot of a 14-carat diamond “B” ring (presumably for Benny, in case you needed that spelled out) on her finger in December 2023.

December 2023: Gomez and Blanco take it to the grid

Stories are all well and good, but PDA memorialized on the Instagram grid is forever.

There is no Los Angeles dating rite more hallowed than a couple’s first outing to a Lakers game, and Gomez and Blanco pulled theirs off with aplomb. (Extra points for the flowered puffer, Benny!)

February 2024: Gomez posts her first full-on Instagram tribute to Blanco

“My bes fwend,” Gomez captioned a Blanco-focused Instagram gallery on February 12, 2024, proving that it is very much possible to be both extremely cute and mildly nauseating when you’re in love.

February 2024: Gomez publicly references her relationship with Blanco for the first time

“Without getting into too much detail, I think it’s just really important to meet someone who respects you,” Gomez said in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “And I think it’s really nice to also lean on someone who understands the world that I live in. But I’d have to say overall it’s the safest that I feel, and it’s been really lovely, and I’ve only grown through it, so it’s awesome.” Aww!

October 2024: Gomez and Blanco go big for Halloween

Gomez and Blanco took their first official couples’ costume very seriously, dressing up as Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter for Halloween 2024.

November 2024: Blanco is named one of People’s “Sexiest Men Alive” (and Gomez loves it)

“That’s my man!” Gomez told CBS in an interview shortly after Blanco was named one of People’s Sexiest Men Alive, adding: “I’m beyond proud to know that there is someone in the world that deeply cares about every tiny detail about who I am and have someone support me, encourage me, inspire me and motivate me. It brings me joy. And more than anything he’s just my best friend. I’m really, really lucky.”

December 2024: Engagement time!

Get the rock, Selena! Specifically, the marquise diamond engagement ring! We also love Blanco commenting “hey wait… that’s my wife” on Gomez’s post; clearly, he’s gearing up to be an extreme wife guy.

Gomez and Blanco still haven’t walked a red carpet together, but Blanco could be seen giving Gomez a kiss before she did the step and repeat on her own, and then sitting staunchly beside her throughout the January 5 ceremony. We love A-list love, don’t we, folks?
