The video gives viewers a personal peek into her life growing up in the Philippine province.

London-based Filipino artist Beabadoobee released a new music video for her single “Glue Song,” and it features a nostalgic look into the singer’s life in the Philippines.

The singer wrote the new track on the road while touring across Asia and Australia in 2022. It is her first new release since her acclaimed 2022 album beatopia. She says this track is a heartfelt love song that means a lot to her.

“I usually write these songs that are sad, in the past with my writing even when it doesn’t sound sad looking back the lyrics usually have been,” shares the singer. “For the first time this is just me being really happy. I’m in a really positive place for the first time in a long time and feeling love.”

The singer came to the Philippines in late 2022 for the Manila leg of her Beatopia tour. It was then that she shot the music video entirely in her hometown of Iloilo.

“This song feels really personal and I went to my home town in Iloilo to film the music video. It’s where I was born and so that also added another personal touch to the song,” she reveals.

The video features snippets of the indie artist’s life caught on Kodak 16mm film. This includes her family, with her grandmother front and center; her grandparents’ house, where she grew up and visited every year after moving to London; and fields featuring trees that her grandfather had planted. It also shows different parts of her neighborhood in Iloilo with children playing, as well as Beabadoobee herself riding the jeepney and tricycle.

“I wanted to capture how beautiful Iloilo is as I haven’t seen much of it on the internet growing up and I [thought] I needed that when I was growing up,” she wrote on her Instagram post about the video.

The release comes ahead of her March headline European and US tours, as well as supporting Taylor Swift on her upcoming “The Eras” stadium tour.
