The Palais Galliera in Paris is known to house one of the most outstanding collections of fashion history. This September, it lends its floor to Filipino fashion and culture.

A cultural showcase awaits this year’s Paris Fashion Week, as Vogue Philippines hosts a dinner event celebrating Filipino fashion and creativity on the global stage. This September, eyes are on the Palais Galliera, where the opening of the “Vogue Threads: Weaving Philippine Culture Into The World” exhibition will reside.

Vogue Philippines will weave Filipino culture into the famed museum with an exhibit featuring a series of maquettes wearing couture crafted by designers across the country. Designers Joey Samson, Mich Dulce, Ivarluski Aseron, and more will grace the museum halls among the pantheon of clothing and accessories it has collected over the years. Taking inspiration from traditional dressmaking techniques, each maquette is a miniature showcase of the native materials and craftsmanship that the Philippines can produce.

Aside from the exhibit will be a celebratory dinner attended by the country’s creatives, Condé Nast International editors, and a studded mix of designers, journalists, and business partners from all over the world.

The Palais Galliera is no stranger to stars; its marble walls have always been built to house the pinnacle of art. In 1879, it began as a French noblewoman’s opulent love letter to the city. It took fifteen years for the place to finally finish construction, but it never lost its original purpose of making art accessible to as many people as possible.

After years of renovations and changes in how the space is used, it is now known to be a haven for fashion history. The Vogue Paris Foundation has raised funds and donated over a hundred pieces of garments and accessories for the museum’s collection since 2014. Its vast collection contains significant pieces from French, Italian, English, and American houses of fashion, as well as historical clothing dating back to the 18th century.

Now, the Palais Galliera lends its floor to Filipino talent. At the Vogue Threads exhibition, Philippine fashion puts its best foot forward, threading our culture to the rest of the world.
