K-pop phenomenon Blackpink have returned with full force, wearing some of the biggest names in fashion

After a two-year hiatus from making music together, global phenomenon Blackpink is back with a brand-new album, Born Pink. After the album dropped on September 16, it seems like they have no plans to break course from their streak. As member Jennie puts it at the beginning of their latest single “Shut Down,” “It’s not a comeback, since we never left.”

According to the Hanteo Chart, which tracks all K-pop album sales, Born Pink sold over 1 million physical copies on the first day of its release—almost twice that of their debut album,The Album, which hit number 2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart and led to the group’s headline-making turn in 2020 as the world’s highest-ranking K-pop group ever.

After pre-releasing the “Pink Venom” video in August, Blackpink has now dropped a second stunning visual. The “Shut Down” music video accompanied the album release, taking fans down memory lane by remastering famous scenes from their own classics, complete with reinventions of their much-studied and copied outfits. Since their debut, each of the group’s four members—Lisa, Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo—became celebrated fashion figures, even serving as global ambassadors of prominent luxury fashion labels. Naturally, the “Shut Down” video includes several nods to their fashion partnerships. See how each member represented their brands below.

Lisa in Celine

In 2020, the Thai rapper became one of the official faces of Celine. Hedi Slimane, creative director of the French Fashion house, took to the K-pop star—even photographing the singer-dancer himself. For the “Shut Down” music video, Lisa was spotted wearing a furry black Celine bucket hat and silver sequined dress under a camo bomber jacket. In another look, she donned a pair of lace-up Celine combat boots while accessorizing from another of her partnerships, Italian luxury brand BVLGARI.

Jennie in Chanel

Born in South Korea, Blackpink’s Jennie has long been adopted by the French couture house, Chanel. The trendsetter’s ambassadorship was first announced in 2017, and she has since become the face of the Coco Crush jewelry line. At the Fall 2022 Chanel collection, Jennie stole the show, appearing on the front row while fans camped out to watch her.

For one of her “Shut Down” looks, she appeared in a denim mini-skirt and Chanel suspenders. She also moved to the hit song in Chanel accessories.

Rosé in Balenciaga

New Zealand-born South Korean singer Rosé was in love with Saint Laurent long before she was announced as their ambassador in 2020, making the partnership a match made in heaven. However, for the “Shut Down” video, she swapped her signature brand for another one of Kering’s labels, fashion house Balenciaga.

She stepped out in a neon green Balenciaga coat that dominated the screen, before changing into a punk biker jacket from the same brand paired with platform Dr. Martens boots.

Jisoo in Cartier

Singer and actress Jisoo was officially named the global ambassador of luxury jewellery house Cartier, adding to her roaster of partnerships which include fashion house Dior and sportswear giant Adidas. For the music video, she pulled up in white gold Panthère de Cartier pendant earrings and an Adidas tracksuit jacket.
