Despite Bella Hadid leaving Cannes early for the UK launch of Orebella (the supermodel has worn countless archival looks in the south of France in recent years), there’s been no shortage of vintage on the Croisette so far.

Take Amal Clooney–another queen of the archives—who opted for a black off-shoulder John Galliano for Dior gown for the Bono: Stories Of Surrender premiere over the weekend, or Rooney Mara, who wore a strapless white dress from Hubert de Givenchy’s spring 1956 haute couture collection.

Meanwhile, a number of stars sported recreations of rare pieces of fashion history: Natalie Portman—who famously wore the 1949 Junon gown in Cannes in 2023–wore a black and silver dress from Dior’s fall 1951 haute couture collection for the Eddington premiere; Jennifer Lawrence chose the French fashion house’s 1949 Poulenc dress for the Die, My Love premiere; while Zoey Deutsch wore a strapless bow-adorned dress from Chanel’s spring 1956 haute couture collection, which was remade especially for her new film, Nouvelle Vague.

Below, see all the best vintage and vintage-inspired looks from the 2025 Cannes Film Festival so far.
