Vogue Philippines gives a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world’s biggest shows.

Beyond the established fashion capitals of New York, London, Milan, and Paris, Shanghai has firmly positioned itself as a global style leader. Shanghai Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2025 radiated with a vibrant blend of cultural heritage, avant-garde design, and international collaboration, affirming the city’s growing influence on the world stage.

Over seven days, the event featured more than 100 runway shows and nearly 1,000 presentations and exhibitions. An impressive feat that attracted an eclectic mix of global and homegrown talent. Renowned international labels such as Marchesa and LSOUL made striking Far East debuts, while major brands embraced storytelling and spectacle. Nike’s “Victory Lap” show honored the strength of female athletes through sport-inspired couture, and Disney enlisted Chinese designers to reimagine Toy Story in a whimsical, fashion-forward light.

Yet it was Shanghai’s local designers who truly defined the season. Weiraen captivated with sculptural silhouettes executed in lyrical precision; GG channeled a surrealist edge into urban streetwear; Joyce Bao offered minimalist tailoring punctuated by rich, tactile contrasts; and Lli Node delivered a masterclass in fluid structure, blending softness and strength in gender-neutral hues.

This season made one thing clear: Shanghai is no longer simply keeping pace, it’s leading the charge, rewriting the rhythm of contemporary Asian fashion.

Here, we look back at the best moments from Shanghai Fashion Week, through the reportage of Vogue Philippines correspondent Alexandre Dornellas.
