Closet Confidential: A Rare Look Into the Wardrobes of Filipino Creatives

Photographed by Moeez Ali & Daniele Qazi

In this ongoing style series, Filipino creatives invite us to peer into their worldly wardrobes.

When British writer C. S. Lewis penned The Chronicles of Narnia, he probably wasn’t trying to make a connection to fashion. Yet somehow, the starting point of his fantastical series holds true in a sartorial sense: to step into a wardrobe is to be swept into a new world.

This November, Vogue is granted a rare look into the closets of Filipino creatives from all over the globe, in the first installment of a series that will continue throughout our coming issues. Musicians, filmmakers, artists, editors, and more welcome us to experience their objects of affection from their distinct points of view. Through their eyes, we learn how these creatives honed tastes, discovered favorites, got things right, and got things wrong. For fashion editor Benjamin Canares, that’s the joy of it: “I look back on some things and I’m like, what was I wearing?” he says with a laugh. “That’s the fun in fashion.”
