“Asia’s Songbird” graced one of the two covers for Billboard Philippines’ inaugural issue. To mark the occasion, she styled herself for the launch with upbeat, punkish flair.

Regine Velasquez-Alcasid has been a music industry titan for over three decades, but she is nowhere near the twilight of her career. As a matter of fact, she is in the middle of artistic exploration with her upcoming rock concert titled “Regine Rocks.”

With the concert being a month away, it was only fitting that her look at Billboard Philippines’ official launch event reflected the punkish edge typical of rockstar fashions. She styled herself for the occasion, opting for playful layering and pops of color.

“I was going for a maximalist style,” Velasquez-Alcasid told Vogue Philippines. Her Chopova Lowena carabiner kilt—the cult classic going strong through the seasons—is what she wanted to make the “focal point of the whole outfit.” She paired it with a black shirt layered on top of a white button-down, its cuffs lined with green fur trim to match the lime of her skirt. She wore Alexander McQueen knee-high boots that featured red stitching details; the touch of color added contrast to an otherwise cool-toned look, while the laces left untied added to its effortlessly undone effect. Lastly, Velasquez-Alcasid finished off the look with gold jewelry from Chanel and a handbag from Fendi.

“I was very excited when we got there,” she said of arriving at the launch. “I was also very happy to see colleagues from the industry. It was a great night, and I feel grateful to have been part of it.”

As one of Billboard Philippines’ cover stars along with the members of P-Pop group SB19, Velasquez-Alcasid was there to celebrate her journey in the music industry thus far, which amounted to her sound being a pillar for OPM (Original Pilipino Music). Her self-styling for the event adopted an affinity to the bright and the bold—a display of her confidence as she embarks on this new chapter in her career.
