Doja Cat’s Performance at Vogue World 2025: Hollywood Channeled Tina Turner

Tonight, the Vogue World 2025: Hollywood show featured a special live performance from Doja Cat. The artist—who just released her new album, Vie, last month—took to the Vogue World runway to perform a new rendition of her hit single, “Gorgeous,” during the finale. And she slipped into a striking look to do so: Doja’s custom chainmail dress was inspired by the one Tina Turner wore in the 1985 sci-fi film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, costume designed by Norma Moriceau.

Doja’s spot-on version was brought to life by costume designer Michael Schmidt, who worked with Turner on many of her iconic looks and album covers over the years. Schmidt’s contemporary design felt just as fierce on the Vogue World runway as Turner’s original, sharp-shouldered dress did all those years ago.

Doja’s performance look was the perfect nod to Hollywood cinema, and one of may that delivered drew inspiration from film’s most memorable characters. Should a Mad Max remake ever be in the works, casting agents would be wise to give Doja a call: tonight proved she is worthy of a part—and definitely ready!
