P-pop goes global as SB19 and BINI received the prestigious Voices of Asia Award at Billboard Korea’s “Billboard K POWER 100” event in Seoul.

In a historic moment for Filipino music, P-pop groups SB19 and BINI received the Voices of Asia Award, a recognition of their contributions to the global music landscape and their steadfast promotion of P-pop beyond Philippine shores.

SB19, celebrated for their chart-topping hits and international influence, and BINI, dubbed the “Nation’s Girl Group” for their trailblazing success, continue to solidify their roles as key figures in the evolution of global music. Beyond their musical achievements, members of both groups hone their personal style onstage and offstage with their distinctive fashion preferences.

SB19’s approach to menswear, as showcased in their music videos and performance outfits, has since sparked a positive shift in everyday Filipino men’s fashion. Each member of SB19 brings their own unique style to the table. “SB19 members are completely hands on in their final look,” stylists Rain Dagala and Em Millan say in a joint statement. “Each look for each appearance is a collaboration (…) Cohesiveness of the group comes after, and that is a task that is left to us as stylists.” Member FELIP shared his wardrobe essentials, letting fans take a glimpse into his personal style preferences. “A lot of people were questioning how I dress,” the musician tells Vogue in May. “They ask me why I wear the same clothes over and over again, which I didn’t understand, because clothes are meant to be worn.”

Each member of the boy group don black and blue in different necklines by designer Ehrran Montoya on the red carpet. The designer incorporated subtle Filipino touches into the ensembles using scrap abaca fabrics and threads. “The designs aim to highlight Filipino artistry and craftsmanship, aligning with the core objective of promoting the PPOP Rise and representing the Filipino flag on the international stage,” the designer says. “The result is a stunning showcase of Filipino heritage, interpreted in a fresh and understated way. “

BINI’s growing influence on fashion and makeup in the local scene has been evident in their audience within the past year: spy the girls wearing all-denim ensembles with a pop of color inspired by their “Salamin Salamin” music video, crocheted island-girl style ala-“Pantropiko,” and the rise of the wine-red dyed hair and “bayonetta” glasses trends adapted by BINI members Mikha Lim and Maloi Ricalde as their signatures, respectively. At the event, the girl group goes performance ready, sporty feminine color-blocked ensembles, staying coordinated with a touch of their individual personalities.

As SB19 and BINI prepare for their performances in Seoul, their achievements underscore the rising prominence of Filipino music on the world stage, aligning with Billboard Philippines mission to amplify the reach and impact of Filipino artists internationally.

“This recognition is a testament to P-pop’s growing influence beyond Asia. Both SB19 and BINI have captivated international audiences, and their inclusion signals that P-pop is making significant inroads into key global markets,” says Billboard Philippines publisher Anne Bernisca. “By continuously amplifying the reach and impact of Filipino music globally, we aim to foster a culture where Filipino talent is celebrated and integrated into the mainstream global music conversation.”

SB19 and BINI then captured the attention of global audiences by delivering unforgettable performances. SB19’s powerful rendition of “GENTO” showcased their dynamic energy, while BINI’s vibrant medley of their hits “Cherry On Top” and “Pantropiko” solidified their status as the nation’s leading girl group. As they took the spotlight in style at the prestigious event, SB19 and BINI proved that Filipino artists are more than capable of standing alongside the world’s best, setting the stage for even greater global recognition in the future.
