Anya Taylor-Joy’s Heatwave Dressing Hack? Go Bra-First

How best to beat a heatwave and still feel fashionable? If you’re Anya Taylor-Joy, it means going bra first and building your outfit from there. A heady formula that may work only if you’re on a press tour for the zaniest crime thriller series of the season, but hey ho.

The actor, out promoting that aforementioned, heisty forthcoming TV show Lucky (where she plays a con woman on the run opposite Drew Starkey), wore a full pre-spring 2027 Balmain look—making her the first to do so: a textured fuchsia satin bra with a teeny, unbuttoned and cropped olive green cardigan. On the bottom, a floral patterned orange and yellow jacquard pencil skirt and matching yellow mules. Jewelry included a Tiffany & Co. Elsa Peretti gold bean pendant and diamond hoop earrings. Her icy blonde hair was worn straight and swept to the side.

Anya Taylor-Joy is no stranger to lingerie dressing, sheer fabrics, or some bold navel flashing. Even in the last few days, she’s kept things easy and breezy in various looks thanks to stylist Ryan Hastings. Taylor-Joy wore a sinewy ivory Fforme dress with encrusted lace detailing from the label’s spring 2026 collection; an ochre and gold lame-pleated Ferragamo resort 2027 slip dress (paired with a wedge, a trending upwards summer shoe); a lace-ruffled, lime green Chloé slip dress (and a suite of Tiffany & Co. silver jewelry); and a sheer gray halterneck top with a skirt-pants combo that felt distinctly Jennifer-Lawrence-in-the-city-coded.

It’s really been a battle of the bras this summer, so far. Charli XCX and Gracie Abrams have both donned Fleur du Mal balconettes for their respective music videos and album covers, while Fruity Booty finds fans from Alexa Chung to Chloé Sevigny. The cone bra look—buoyed even more by Madonna’s return—also quickly found its way into the wardrobes of Dua Lipa and Vogue editors alike after its revival via Miu Miu and Calvin Klein.
