Taylor Swift’s Beauty Look for the European Tour Has Changed—and, Perhaps, Hints at Her Relationship

Taylor Swift is a woman with an iconic beauty look. She knows it, too, and has even given us catchy lyrics to back it up. In 1989’s “Style” she referenced it with the lyric “I got that red-lip classic thing that you like”—notably a shade by the one and only Pat McGrath—and more recently crooned “draw the cat eye, sharp enough to kill a man” in Midnight’s “Vigilante Shit.”

But on the European leg of Swift’s continually sold-out tour, the queen of hidden messages and Easter eggs has changed something up.

While touring across America, which included 53 concerts in 20 different cities, she wore a bold red lip with a thin, curved feline flick (check and check). The eyeliner, specifically, was sweet and perfectly curved, almost a kitten liner.

After finishing her tour’s first round, Swift went on a much-deserved Lake Como vacation with beau Travis Kelce before opening the European leg of her tour in Paris. The City of Love—feels appropriate!

After watching video upon video from the stops in Stockholm, Madrid, and Lisbon, I realized something looked different. That signature liner: It was thicker, sharper, edgier. While I’d like to say it’s a hint at the long-awaited Reputation (Taylor’s Version), I’d never speculate at the risk of being wrong. But it does feel more confident.

As The Tortured Poets Department recently revealed, Swift was heartbroken during most of the first part of her Eras Tour, fresh off a breakup with Joe Alwyn. Since then, she has won a Grammy for album of the year, run the most successful tour of all time, found somebody clearly proud to be with her, and been called one of the toughest out there (full-stop)—sharper, stronger eyeliner for the strongest, sharpest Taylor yet.
