Selena Gomez is celebrating a big moment tonight—the entrepreneur-actor-singer is nominated for her first Emmy Award for the role of acerbic yet winning Mabel Mora in Only Murders in the Building, whose fourth season kicked off this month. Naturally, the Rare Beauty founder called upon an elite glam team to get her ready: Hung Vanngo for makeup, Tom Bachik for nails, and Marissa Marino for hair.
“The vibe for the night was effortless elegance and high shine,” says Marino. The star was sparkling—literally—in a black, silk velvet, hand-embellished pavé halter gown by Ralph Lauren with plenty of diamond jewelry to match. “When preparing for the red carpet look we usually wait until her dress has been picked out and then we ideate the best hairstyle to accentuate the dress’s features,” Marino adds.
For glam, Vanngo gave Gomez a thin, smokey cat eye. The subtle eye look was paired with a nude lip. Her longtime nail artist, Bachik (the man behind this spring’s ultra-viral butter nails manicure) prepped her nails in a shade to match her lips. The hue and high shine harken back to 2023’s lipgloss nails (another nail trend created by Bachik, no less). The finishing touch was sleek, elegant hair. Marino prepped using the entire Fekkai Brilliant Glossing collection, followed by Kristin Ess tools, blowing her long hair out mostly straight with the Detangling Paddle Bush then using the large curling iron on the ends.
No matter what happens during the ceremony, her glam look is a winner.
