It’s official: Boho summer is sticking around for fall. Just ask Suki Waterhouse, the style’s poster child. While attending the Venice Film Festival to promote her documentary Broken English, the actor-singer-mother gave us major shag inspiration with her new cut, which brings to mind forever hair inspiration Jane Birkin.
I’m actually seeing the Birkin cut—a mid-length to long shag with piecey bangs—everywhere right now. Of course, there’s Dakota Johnson, who has worn the look essentially since becoming famous. Still, every time she steps out on a carpet, her perfectly coiffed hair causes a frenzy.
More recently I’ve been loving Rain Spencer’s haircut. Every Wednesday the actor appears on my television screen (she plays Taylor on The Summer I Turned Pretty) with a beauty look that’s part Kate Moss, part Studio 54, and completely cool girl.
To top off this obsession, other inspiring images have come with the beginning of the school year: those of Chloé’s fall-winter 2025 campaign, with Grace Hartzel’s ’70s boho hair; street-style snaps; and more.
Suddenly, temptation is everywhere. According to hairstylist Halley Brisker, one request is key if you’re going to get the cut: “I always recommend adding some soft, face-framing layers. Think feathered sections that start around the jawline—or just above—and graduate down to the ends of the cut.”
Happy chopping!
