How to Get Amal Clooney’s Soft Curls—Directly From Her Hairstylist 

British-Lebanese lawyer Amal Clooney is known for many things: working to defend victims of the war in Ukraine, winner of countless awards for defending the rights to free press, and her philanthropic work through the Clooney Foundation for Justice. Less important, but still quite stunning? Her hair.

Clooney’s known for having a bit of a signature hair look. It’s thick (so thick!), glossy (impossibly glossy!), and worn down and parted to the side. She’s worn the timeless look to her wedding dress fitting, on the cover of Vogue, and at the Albie Awards earlier this year. To sum it all up, it’s something that I (a fellow Middle Eastern woman) have always envied.

“Amal has the most beautiful natural hair,” her hairstylist, Dimitris Giannetos, tells Vogue exclusively. But, of course, he does have a few tricks when it comes to styling her hair.

“I always use thickening lotion in wet hair before I start the blow dry because it creates extra body and the styling lasts longer,” Giannetos says, adding that his favorite is the Garnier Fructis Style Full & Plush Mega Full Thickening Lotion.

From there, the stylist uses a round brush for a smooth-but-fluffy blow dry. Nexts, he “adds some waves at the end with the GHD Soft Curl 1.25 inch curling iron.” When it comes to creating the curls, this is where tk. “Curl each section of hair in different directions,” he advises. “This gives the hair look more effortless and modern look and feel.”
