From Primetime to East of Eden, Here Are the Films and Series Coming to Philippine Screens This October

The month brings a packed lineup of movie and streaming releases, including highly anticipated international and Filipino films.

As Cinepanalo wraps up its festival run this October, Primetime, Digger, and Sense and Sensibility are getting cinephiles excited. In the local scene, 2 Valid IDs makes its way back to the cinemas, while Midnight Girls comes to streaming. Halloween is also creeping up, with the release of the Prime Video series Carrie and the film Other Mommy.

Primetime

Starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen, Primetime is a 2026 biographical psychological crime thriller that follows the rise and ethical fallout of the mid-2000s reality television series To Catch a Predator.

East of Eden

Premiering on October 1, Netflix’s East of Eden is a seven-episode drama limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel, focusing on Cathy Ames (Florence Pugh).

Midnight Girls

Following its theatrical release last April, Irene Villamor’s Midnight Girls begins streaming October 1. Set in Nagoya, Japan, the film follows four Overseas Filipino Workers working as nightclub entertainers.

Digger

On October 2, the highly anticipated film Digger comes to the Philippines. Directed by Alejandro G. Iñarritu, Tom Cruise plays Digger Rockwell, an eccentric oil tycoon trying to hide a massive environmental disaster he created.

Carrie

On October 7, Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s 1974 novel Carrie premieres on streaming. The eight-episode supernatural horror drama miniseries follows misfit teenager Carrie White (Summer H. Howell), who discovers telekinetic powers as she faces bullying.

The Social Reckoning

Directed and written by Aaron Sorkin, The Social Reckoning will premiere in the Philippines on October 7. Inspired by true events, the film explores the fallout from the 2021 Facebook leak.

Other Mommy

Premiering on October 7, Other Mommy is a supernatural psychological horror film starring Jessica Chastain. The film follows an eight-year-old girl whose life takes a dark turn when a supernatural entity emerges from her closet, looking and sounding identical to her mother.

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender

Also on October 7, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will hit the big screen. The animated feature film follows an adult Aang as his friends protect Republic City from an extremist group called “The Denied.”

Always Lalisa

Premiering on October 12, Always Lalisa is a documentary film that follows Thai rapper, singer, and dancer Lisa during a pivotal year of independence away from her global K-pop group Blackpink.

2 Valid IDs

After its successful Cinemalaya run, 2 Valid IDs returns for a theatrical release on October 14. Starring Marietta “Pokwang” Subong, the film follows Sylvia, a poor provincial farmer who faces the challenge of getting two valid IDs to claim financial help for her ill husband.

Nobody Wants This: Season 3

On October 22, Nobody Wants This returns for season 3. The upcoming season explores new domestic dynamics as supporting characters Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Sasha (Timothy Simons) navigate separate career and dating paths.

Sense and Sensibility

An adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1811 novel, Sense and Sensibility premieres in the Philippines on October 28. The story follows sisters Elinor (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Marianne Dashwood (Esmé Creed-Miles), who lose their inheritance and home to a greedy half-brother and his wife when their father dies.

Balaraw: Blood Island

On October 29, Balaraw: Blood Island premieres on Netflix. The upcoming Filipino Netflix Original horror-mystery series follows the story of Sabina Tejeros (Janine Gutierrez), years after her mother, Rebecca, vanishes. A new clue leads her to an uncharted, remote island, where she finds an isolated community bound by dark generational secrets, ancient Philippine myth, cave drawings, and strange inhabitants.
