Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez Finds a New Light With Luna

Inspired by the quiet of nightfall and rest, the designer’s first lighting piece brings her signature eye for form and beauty into the home.

As a designer, Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez has always had this penchant for looking at everyday items and asking the question: What makes it beautiful? It is this curiosity that urges her to look beyond the surface, to understand why the eye is drawn to something, and eventually inspires her to create her own. With years of experience and a passion for accessory design, her questions eventually pushed her to design her first lighting product, Luna.

It was only in 2025 when Tweetie took up a product design course in Milan, where the idea of a lamp came to life. Already known for her eponymous brand, TdLG, where she designs jewelry and accessories, she found herself exploring a new medium. After presenting the lamp in her class, the thought of producing it never left her mind, eventually leading to its launch this August at the MaArte Fair. While it may be a transition from accessory design, it wasn’t an unexpected one for Tweetie, who describes how every corner of her home has lamps to make the place more romantic.

More so, design in general, for her, is about addressing something that is missing. “Jewelry design for me started primarily because I don’t have anything for something that I will wear. In the same way I approach jewelry design, that was my process with this lamp. What I wanted out of a bedside lamp was, I wanted it streamlined. I didn’t want it bulky; I wanted it minimalist and contemporary.”

Luna is a spherical lampshade made of glass, with a post that resembles a slim stem attached to a heavy marble base. Inspired by the concept of nightfall and a time of rest, its round surface features soft craters and indentations that resemble the moon. Available in gray and white, Luna’s marble base is hollowed out in the center to create a catch-all tray where little things can be placed.

In her further exploration of design, Tweetie is thrilled that she still has that same curiosity and eagerness to learn. “Because the greatest mistake by a creative is saying, it has to fulfill all your needs and your requirements completely, a hundred percent, and in the best way possible,” she says. “So I guess I’m not tired yet. I still have that eagerness to do things, and inspiration hasn’t left me. I guess, ultimately, it’s living.”
