Launching at MaArte Fair this August, J.Lloren Editions brings together pieces that blur the lines between clothing, art, and heirloom.
Jojie Lloren is beginning a new chapter. The veteran Filipino designer, known for his minimalist style and exceptional tailoring, is launching J. Lloren Editions, a retail concept that aims to transform “original artistic expression and Philippine cultural narratives” into collectible pieces, limited editions, and ready-to-wear.
“J. Lloren Editions was built on the belief that fashion can be more than clothing. It can preserve culture, champion artists, celebrate craftsmanship, and become part of a collector’s legacy,” Lloren said in a statement.
For its inaugural collection, Lloren Editions will debut at the MaArte Fair, happening from August 13 to 16 at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City. The 25-piece collection will include Joey Cobcobo’s block prints, Kim Montes’ photographs, and SC Vizcarra’s woven crafts. And for each style, only 12 pieces will be made upon order.
“We produce three to six pieces initially for a launch or exhibition. The rest are made only when there are orders. This approach minimizes overproduction and unnecessary waste. It encourages mindful consumption and ensures that every garment is created with intention, purpose, and enduring value,” he said.
Additionally, every piece will also be documented and authenticated. “Every edition is conceived as a collectible body of work, celebrating exceptional craftsmanship, artistic integrity, and the rich diversity of Filipino culture,” he said. “I think art is not limited to the things we see. It can also be experienced. It moves, travels, creates conversations, and carries stories. When someone wears a piece from J.Lloren Editions, they wear the vision of an artist, the craft of makers, and a piece of Filipino culture.”
Continuing his mission of supporting fellow creatives, the proceeds will be dedicated to the J.Lloren Artist Fund, which will spearhead initiatives such as artist royalties, creative grants, mentorship programs, residency opportunities, exhibition support, publication projects, educational collaboration, and documentation of Philippine craft.
“There is really no limit to where we can take this,” Lloren said. “One of our key missions is to provide fair recognition, equitable compensation, and opportunities for professional growth.”
From start to finish, J.Lloren Editions is a retail concept that is clear in its intentions. It “exists to prove that luxury can be purposeful, that fashion can preserve culture, that collaboration creates greater beauty than authorship alone, and that every carefully made garment can become a lasting testament to Filipino creativity,” Lloren said. “We create fewer pieces so that each piece matters more.”
