This month, two highly anticipated series are coming back with a new season. There’s House of the Dragon, where the Targaryens descend into further chaos, and Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, where Aang continues his journey mastering the four elements.
In film, DC comic fans can look forward to Craig Gillespie’s take on Supergirl, starring HOTD actress Milly Alcock. Meanwhile, horror fans can look forward to Backrooms and the sixth installment of Scary Movie.

Queer
Directed by Luca Guadagnino, Queer is set in 1950s Mexico City, following American ex-pat William Lee (Daniel Craig), who lives a solitary life in a small American community. But when a young student, Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey), arrives, William finally establishes a meaningful connection with someone. The film will screen exclusively at Ayala Malls starting June 3.

Backrooms
On June 3, the highly anticipated A24 film Backrooms will hit the cinemas. A film inspired by the viral found-footage YouTube series by filmmaker Kane Parsons, the story begins with a strange doorway that appears in the basement of a furniture showroom.

Pillion
Over half a year since its UK & Ireland release, Pillion will be available to stream in the Philippines starting on June 5. The film follows Colin, a timid man, who meets Ray, a confident biker gang leader. Ray initiates Colin into a submissive relationship, challenging Colin’s mundane existence and prompting personal growth through their unconventional dynamic.

Scary Movie
Back for its sixth installment, Scary Movie returns to cinemas this June 10. Directed by Michael Tiddes, the new film is set 26 years after outrunning the familiar masked killer, Ghostface. The Core Four are back: Shorty (Marlon Wayans), Ray (Shawn Wayans), Cindy (Anna Faris), and Brenda (Regina Hall). As they get caught in the killer’s crosshairs, they slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that isn’t final.

How to Make a Killing
After its run in this year’s Cine Europa, How to Make a Killing will continue to be available in the Philippines, available for streaming on HBO Max on June 19. The dark comedy film follows Becket Redfellow (Glen Powell), a disinherited working-class man who seeks to claim a $28 billion family fortune. To inherit the massive wealth, he sets out to systematically murder the seven affluent relatives standing in his way.

House of the Dragon Season 3
On June 21, House of the Dragon returns to streaming on HBO Max. After plunging Westeros into the brutal Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of Dragons, the third season accelerates into an all-out war.

First Light
After its global festival run since last year, First Light finally comes to Philippine cinemas on June 24. The film follows the story of Sister Yolanda (Ruby Ruiz), a middle-aged Catholic nun whose faith is deeply shaken by the suspicious death of a young construction worker.

Supergirl
Starring Milly Alcock, Supergirl is coming to the cinemas on June 24. With Alcock as Kara Zor-El (a.k.a. Supergirl), the film follows Kara as she joins forces with an unlikely companion on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Season 2
On June 25, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender will have its second season. The new season will take place in the Earth Kingdom, where Aang must master earthbending to end the war.
