Where Masculinity Ends, the Real Story Begins

Brazil’s boldest designers unite in a narrative that defies conventions and gender expectations.

This story celebrates transformation, where clothes and masculinity shed their traditional roles and take on fluid and feminine meanings. Styled by Alexandre Dornellas and photographed by Jonathan Wolpert, the images depict a world where dresses become skirts, latex transforms into softness under voile, and accessories serve as talismans. Models Efraim Schröder and Elia Lee navigate these evolving silhouettes with an intensity that feels both vulnerable and defiant, showcasing identities that are not fixed but continuously expanding.

Every garment carries the DNA of its maker. Walério Araujo, who left Pernambuco for São Paulo and built his reputation on fearless theatricality, lends drama and sculptural bravado, echoing his place as one of Brazil’s most daring couturiers. Pedro Wagner, known for his architectural jewelry, threads sharp geometry into the narrative, his earrings becoming punctuation marks of clarity and strength. Lino Villaventura’s textural experimentation speaks in drape and depth, while Penha Maia’s romantic lines reemerge as unexpected structure. Latex from Bold Strap glistens under layers of gauze, André Lima’s sensual minimalism bends into abstraction, and Lucas Leão’s street-born experimentation is recast into silhouettes unbound by their original intent. Together, they form a chorus of voices that challenge what clothing should be, and more importantly, who it can belong to.

As Dornellas explains, “I illustrated contact with our many facets and senses, without fear of releasing the feminine side that every man has and seeking to understand his inner self in a natural, easy way and without preconceptions.” That spirit runs through every look, where garments are not costumes but extensions, where identity is not confined but continuously becoming. The story does not present fashion as a mask but as revelation: a language of fluidity, multiplicity, and the courage to inhabit every facet of the self.
