Rihanna Shares A First Look At Her Baby Boy On TikTok

The world is fawning over the adorable baby

When it comes to social media, if there’s one thing Rihanna knows, it’s how to make a splash. Whether it’s her hilariously savage clapbacks on Twitter from years past (“Good luck with booking that stage u speak of” should be printed out and hung in the Louvre), or the Instagram posts of her smoking cigars and drinking fine wine on one of her annual girls yacht trips, nobody seems to be having more fun with their posts than Rihanna. Plus, will there ever be a more iconic social media handle—ever—than “badgalriri”?

So it comes as little surprise that Rihanna’s first TikTok post today began racking up tens of thousands of likes within minutes. What did come as a surprise, however, was what exactly the musician and mogul chose to share: a first glimpse at her baby boy with A$AP Rocky, who turned seven months earlier this week. In the video, Riri and Rocky junior (the couple is still yet to reveal his name) sits in a booster seat in the back of a car reaching towards the camera, as you can hear Rihanna herself in the background whispering with amusement: “He’s trying to get mommy’s phone.”

The fact the couple chose a more unconventional method to share a first look at their baby boy with the public feels perfectly in keeping with their laid-back, level-headed approach to having a child together. Just take Rihanna’s internet-breaking pregnancy reveal in January, in which she posed for staged paparazzi shots while wearing a vintage Chanel pink puffer coat and jeans; or her game-changing take on maternity style that saw her stepping out for regular dinners at Giorgio Baldi in sheer, skin-baring tops with copious amounts of body jewelry.

In her interview for Vogue’s May cover story, Rihanna shared that they had no plans for a traditional baby shower or gender reveal party, and indeed, that they hadn’t really been actively planning for a baby at all. “There’s no pretentious my-brand-your-brand bullshit, it’s just us living,” she told Chioma Nnadi of her relationship with A$AP. “I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side.” While the couple has (understandably) kept things a little more private since the birth of their son back in May, their low-key reveal today proved their approach to parenting is just as refreshingly unpretentious as their love story.
